SANDS House Mission

SHI Sands House empowers LGBTQ Black and Brown individuals through culturally responsive services that honor their unique experiences. We provide pathways to stability via education, counseling, re-entry support, advocacy, harm reduction, and employment assistance. Our work balances individual healing with community mobilization to address systemic barriers. We serve as a trusted resource where marginalized communities receive quality care from providers who understand their lived realities. Through initiatives like our Civil Power to the People Project, we connect communities with resources and civic engagement opportunities, building more equitable neighborhoods across New York and supporting journeys toward self-determination and collective power.
